Each lipping meets FD30 and FD60 fire ratings when applied in accordance with the relevant door certification, making them suitable for both fire door manufacture and on-site repair or refacing. Match the lipping finish to your door, whether veneer, laminate, or painted, for a seamless edge and long-lasting protection.

FAQ: Lippings

What are door lippings?
Door lippings are narrow strips of timber bonded to the edges of a door. They protect the more vulnerable edges from knocks and wear, give a clean finish where the face material meets the edge, and on a fire door, they form part of the certified construction.

Are these lippings fire-rated?
The lippings meet FD30 and FD60 fire ratings when applied in accordance with the relevant door's certification. Fire performance always depends on fitting the lipping to the door manufacturer's certified specification.

Which finishes are available?
The range includes American White Oak, American Black Walnut, American White Ash, Steamed Beech and Maple, plus a hardwood paint grade option for doors that will be painted on site.

Can lippings be used to repair or trim a door?
Lippings are commonly used in both new door manufacture and on-site work. For any fire door, any trimming or re-lipping must stay within the limits set by the door's certification, so check the manufacturer's specification before altering a fire door.
