What is a fire door core?
A fire door core is the engineered solid inner blank that gives a fire door its strength and fire resistance. It is faced with a veneer, laminate, or paint finish and fitted with the correct lippings, glazing, and ironmongery to form a complete certified fire door.
What is the difference between FD30 and FD60 cores?
An FD30 core is 44mm and provides around 30 minutes of fire resistance, while an FD60 core is 54mm and provides around 60 minutes. The choice depends on the fire rating required for the opening.
Are these solid core or hollow core?
These are solid, engineered fire cores, which are the opposite of a lightweight hollow core. The dense solid construction is what delivers the fire resistance and the heavy, substantial feel of a fire door.
What does the Q-Mark certification mean?
The Strebord cores are certified under the Q-Mark Enhanced Lifetime Performance of Doors scheme, an independent third-party scheme that provides traceability and assurance of consistent, long-term performance.
