Designed to protect houses, flats and apartment buildings, our residential fire doors hold back fire and smoke long enough for your household to escape safely. As a UK manufacturer rather than a reseller, QDoors supplies fully certified residential fire-rated doors, frames and doorsets at factory-direct prices, in FD30 and FD60 ratings and a wide choice of styles and finishes to suit any home.
Fire Protection for Your Home
A fire door is one of the most important safety features in any home. In a fire, it confines flames and toxic smoke to one area, protecting hallways, stairwells and escape routes and giving your family vital time to get out. Because we manufacture in-house, we control quality at every stage and pass on competitive pricing and reliable stock, so you don't have to choose between safety, style and budget. Didn't find the right size? We make bespoke sizes to order, and every door can be supplied as a ready-made doorset for a faster, fully compliant fit.
Our Residential Fire Door Range
Match the look of your home without compromising on safety. Choose from:
Laminate Fire Doors
Hard-wearing and easy to clean, laminate fire doors are perfect for busy family homes and rental properties. Available in realistic Oak, Walnut, Ash and Beech woodgrains as well as clean solid colours, from leading brands including Formica, Polyrey and Egger.
Primed & Paint Grade Fire Doors
Ready to paint in any colour to match your interior, our primed paint-grade fire doors are a flexible, budget-friendly choice for hallways and bedrooms — finish them to suit your décor.
Panel Fire Doors
For a traditional look, our 4-panel and 6-panel fire doors bring classic styling to period and modern homes alike, available in smooth and grained finishes.
Fire-Rated Glass Doors for Residential Use
Our glazed and fire-rated glass doors, including Pattern 10. Let light flow between rooms and hallways while maintaining full fire integrity, a popular choice for brighter, more open interiors that still meet fire regulations.
Doors are available in a full range of standard sizes in 44mm and 54mm thicknesses, with matching fire-rated frames and bespoke sizing on request.
FD30 vs FD60 — Which Do You Need at Home?
Residential fire doors are rated by how long they resist fire. An FD30 door provides 30 minutes of fire resistance and is the standard rating for most domestic use — including the door between an integrated garage and the house, and doors in flats and multi-storey homes. An FD60 door provides 60 minutes and is specified for higher-risk locations or where building regulations require it. If you're unsure which rating you need, our team is happy to help.
Where Are Fire Doors Required in Homes and Flats in the UK?
In UK homes, fire doors are typically required:
- Between an integral garage and the living accommodation
- In houses of three or more storeys, on doors between the stairwell and habitable rooms (including loft conversions that add a storey)
- In flats and apartments — on the flat's entrance door and on doors protecting shared escape routes
- In HMOs (houses in multiple occupation), where requirements are stricter
These requirements are set out in Building Regulations Approved Document B and, for blocks of flats, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. If you're unsure what your property needs, check with your local building control or a fire safety professional.
Certified and Fully Compliant
Fire safety leaves no room for compromise. Our residential fire doors are tested and certified for fire performance and supplied with full documentation, and we hold IFC fire door certification.
