44mm FD30 plywood-faced door blank is a lightweight engineered timber fire door blank manufactured with a robust tri-laminated hardwood core. Designed for conversion into bespoke fire doors, it delivers reliable 30-minute fire resistance (FD30) while offering excellent machining characteristics for glazing, vision panels and ironmongery preparation within the limits of the manufacturer's certification. It consists of a 3-layer hardwood lumber core sandwiched between 4mm exterior-grade hardwood plywood faces and is lipped on all four edges. Its plywood face provides a stable substrate for decorative finishes, making it suitable for commercial, residential, healthcare and education projects.

Manufactured using FLEGT-licensed timber, the door blank supports responsible sourcing requirements and helps meet sustainable procurement objectives. When installed as part of a certified fire door assembly with compatible frames, seals and hardware, it contributes to effective compartmentation and life safety in the event of fire. The product is typically tested to recognised fire resistance standards such as BS 476-22 and BS EN 1634-1, depending on the manufacturer's certification.

Key Specifications:

  • Core Material: Lightweight solid tri-laminated hardwood (approx. 30–35 kg per standard blank).
  • Faces: 4mm thick hardwood plywood.
  • Fire Rating: FD30 (30 minutes of fire resistance).
  • Edging: L4E (Lipped on All 4 Edges), which protects the core and provides additional trim tolerance.
  • Sound Insulation: Up to Rw 34 dB, meeting UK Building Regulations.
  • FLEGT-licensed timber for legally sourced, responsible forestry

Typical Applications:

  • Can be used for internal or external applications (though external use requires appropriate weather treatments/finishes).
  • Suitable for internal or external fire door manufacture where permitted by the certification
  • Compatible with a wide range of certified glazing systems and fire-rated ironmongery, subject to the manufacturer's scope of approval
  • Ideal for bespoke fire door fabrication in commercial and residential buildings.
